You may've seen these games before, but they did a nice job interfacing them...

Hard to tell from the site. Is that an emulator that only runs those five games or is it a port, or is it something else?

They are not emulated or the real deal. They are somones attempt to recreate classics and release them as freeware.

Are you kidding me? they are excellent. He's not trying to clone the games, they are his take on them which I find refreshing. All of us here likely have the real thing already.

Stingray they are re-creations powered by Macromedia Flash.

Some more good ones at the bottom of this page..

I have MAME on my work laptop, but tried these out of curiousity.
I thought Asteroids was decent, Pac Man not so bad either. If anything hurts Pac Man its that it's TOO clean looking. Very sharp graphics that most people would probably like. Has the correct maze, which is nice.
Space Invaders is bad. The aliens don't speed up as you kill them and the lack of the "invader march" and UFO sounds really hurts it.

Pong and Tetris are well, Pong and Tetris... The Tetris would be OK if it had some music or something. It looks good, it's just very stripped down.

Considering it's free, I give this compilation three joysticks out of five.  ;D
