comedy gold
« on: August 08, 2005, 10:17:30 pm »
too complicated to have more than one vote so youll just have to make a hard choice! for instance i think monty python is comedy gold but it started the year i was born so to this day i havent seen it all (same with saturday night live). so i picked Dave Allen at large as i used to watch him all the time as a kid and he was damn funny! im still sorry i didnt catch him live when he played my town

I picked Simpsons - no matter how many times I see an episode it always makes me laugh.  As for some of the other choices that are supposed to be very funny I haven't seen eg SNL coz it doesn't seem to be on our free-to-air stations.

I chose "The Simpsons" instead of "The Young Ones" simply because there are around 50 classic episodes compared to 8 or so.

But if we were working off of percentages or ratios of good episodes to bad, "The Young Ones" would win handily.

Monty Python, followed very, very closely by The Simpsons. The two funniest shows ever to be aired.

I felt that way for the last two seasons, but I thought this season was pretty good again. The one where the porn chicks move in with Flanders and the one where Professor Frink invents the machine that shows the future immediately come to mind. There are lots of little things going on in the Frink episode, including a quick cameo from Futurama's Bender (that kind of sums up Futurama in general), and Frinks skeleton hanging from a noose in his own shop. Very funny.

The BBC version of the office is great, as well as the classic Fawlty Towers (I still watch and laugh at those today).  I think the simpsons is funny, but I actually like Futurama more. I didn't at first, I think I was expecting simpsons in space, and when it was different I dismissed it without really watching it, now that the DVDs are out, I picked them all up and I really really enjoy that series.  I hear they might release some direct to DVD movies of Futurama (http://www.gotfuturama.com/).  That would be good, it really is an underappreciated show.

Anyways, I voted Futurama.

Home Improvement, the early years....same with Drew Carey.  Since I couldn't get either of those, The Simpsons were the choice for me.  I am so smart!  I am so smart!  S-M-R-T.....DOH!

the cartoon comedies usually vary from the sketch comedies which vary from the reality ones like ali g.

futurama
ali g if you can stand him
family guy
simpsons only has a few new episodes that are funny these days
