I did a quick cleanup and slight correction of a photographed Turtles Sideart.  It's not 100 percent accurate, but it's really close.  You should be able to trace this in no time at all... ;D
It doesn't matter if you win or lose....it's how you play the videogame.

in thread http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=38733.40 you wrote

If only I could get over that damn learning curve in illustrator!

this side art is an easy one to trace.

tips, trun on the magnetism (option-u on Mac, I guess its ctrl-u on Pc)
use some rectangles (shortcut m) that you will rotate (shortcut r) to trace the general outline
make sure the rectangles interset in the corners.

once the general outline is delimited, use the tracing tool (p shortcut) switching form the pic/trace view (option y) to trace the definitive shape.

using the magnetism will help a lot, when you are to trace a point and the mouse get close to some previous trace illustrator willl highlight this point and show you wich one (position, intersection, trace) you are going to create the new point.

hope it helps.

maybee I'll give a try in order to create a small tuto on how to use ai for such geometrical stuff and try to post some screen shot in order to help

I'm on the planning stage
