Best Version of MAME to use
« on: August 05, 2005, 01:14:20 pm »
Hi guys, I recently put togeather my first MAME cabinet, and I am currently running advancemenu on it, because it just happens to work. I got MameWAH running before, but I couldnt find a good emulator to use with it.

My question is, what is the best version of mame to use with the arcade cabinet, MAME MAME32, ??? Is there something really good with great game support I could use?

Thanks

JCL

Mame and mame32 support the same games. Mame32 just provides a nicer interface (if your into that kind of thing).

If you have an slow computer, older mame versions run faster (but support less games and are less true to the arcade version). Many people suggest v 0.37 for some reason.

If you have a fast computer (at least 1 gHz) in your cabinet, run the latest version of MAME.

ok thanks, I was using mame32plus, which i guess had a larger list of supported games, but since the computer is not very great, I think thats why I was having poor performance problems and stuff.
