whilst on UKVAC email list i have noticed a certain distain shown towards mame users.

In particular when i recently bought a Gorf machine from a UK VACer everything was going fine until i mentioned my mame machine. he then laid into me saying that emulators could never be a replacement for the original...

i wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

personally i would not have got into restoring the classics with out mame re-introducing me to my 80's arcade roots.

I suppose this might not be such a major issue in US as the original classic machines and parts are relatively easy to obtain. In the UK this is not the case.

we have a store here in Lexington KY. called game exchange ( I think its called that)

they deal in arcades. I got all excited about it. Drive up there and all games were in very bad shape and he wanted big bucks. He was all friendly till I said Mame.

He became a real MR. Hide.
I had a list of game made for my Nintendo VS.
first He argued with me about the arcade. He stated it is called a Nintendo "V" "S" not verses. ( I still think he is wrong. He also said the list of games I had was all wrong. ( I got the list from Mame) I had enough of his lip and left and will never go back.

How exactly is the list of games wrong? Do they not exist? It's just titles. This guy sounds like one of those tiny unsuccessful store owners who needs to have so much control over his little world that he is willing to drive good customers away over idiotic sematics.

Well they do both amount to the same thing, but one stems from insecurity while the other stems from just being a general dick. I guess I'm getting into idiotic sematics myself here, so best I just let it go.
