Act-labs dual s-video lightguns (not what you think)
« on: August 04, 2005, 10:34:57 am »
OK, my apologies for posting this in software, but this is where I knew I'd find the userbase of dual act-labs s-video lightguns.

I have a PHYSICAL connection question.

I hate the connectors on these things. Big giant hammerhead things, they're heavy and awkward. A single one falls out easily enough -- dual? Forget it.

My solution to this is an s-video cable from the video card, then a gender-changer to get back to female, then the two lightguns, then another s-video cable to the tv. This way, the hammerhead disaster is at least lying on the cab floor, not prone to fall out, etc.

But I find it STILL an awkward connection, and prone to video noise, loose connections, etc etc etc.

Has anyone come up with a good solution to this problem? Failing that, is there any device to boost an s-video signal? Perhaps this would clear my video noise.

Thanks tons!

2 players TV PC USB Light Gun (MAME32) :

Wow, I don't know what to say...

That was about the most useless answer possible, I think.

For crying out loud, did you even READ my question? The hammerhead connectors are so dang heavy, they fall right out of the video card.

I couldn't take the noise introduced by the extra s-video cable in the setup I originally described, so I actually had to make a support for the stupid thing, so it's resting instead of trying to fall out.

I swear I don't understand act-labs. They have such unique stuff, fill such a unique niche... and yet do it so poorly. What an odd thing.

And by the lack of any mention of it, I take it there's no device to boost an s-video signal?
