Street Fighter Zero 2
« on: July 27, 2005, 04:36:29 am »
Ok so this is a bit of a salvage job. Unfortunately you just can't get original cabs in New Zealand so we make do.
This cab was advertised in an online auction as a Street Fighter 2 game with 19" monitor, non working, no sound. I went to see it and the cab looked like crap, horrible MCA controls, dirt everywhere. I immediately realised it had a 26" tube and when I looked inside the cab it was Street Fighter Zero 2 not SF2, a pretty major difference!
The monitor board looked fine but when I switched it on all I got was lightning arcing from the fly back on to the back of the tube and some very loud banging sounds. I new straight away it wouldn't be a difficult fix someone had turned all the pots up and some caps had gone. So I gave the guy his $160NZ (bargain city) and off I went.
Replaced all the buttons and installed Happs comps, cleaned the cab up and replaced the blown speaker, lol. Did quite a lot of re-wiring and soldering etc. Repositioned the Capcom board set as they just don't like to be on their sides.
All that's left to do is print a new marquee and we're sweet. Probably my best bargain ever and the game rocks. So those bargains are still out there, even in New Zealand. I estimate it's now worth approx $900-$1100.
