Try plugging it in and seeing if it is HID compliant?

Do you own one?  If so all I have to say is wow!

If not get something like a Saitek x45 or x52 for the pc.

Doing a quick google search brings up

I have a Steel Batallion controller, never thought of hooking it up to a MAME cabinet though.

What games would you play this with?

Also, the controller can also take inputs, such as the LEDs under the push buttons.

An x45 and x52 are flight controllers (seperate joystick on throttle units).  No pedals though.
Each controller has at least a 3 mode switch, meaning you can map the buttons to three different htings.  Things being keypresses, mouse buttons, macros, multiple macros, etc...  And all the buttons are at your fingertips so you don't have to look away from the screen to find htem, unlike steel batallion which has that grid of buttons in the middle.

But for less than the price of a steel batallion controller you probably could get an x45 and some usb pedals off ebay :)

But I have the same question as lockburn, what games can you play with the steel batallion controller?  Because, between the x45/x52 and a good dual analog gamepad (like thrustmaster's) I can't think of anything on the PC you can't play other than having a steering wheel for racing games.

the main reason was for mech warrior and similar games, trying to control a mech with a single joystick is just hard, you have to control the body movement and leg movement, not to mention jets and everything, plus it just gives a sense of realism

i used controller like the steel batallion controller once at a arcade (less buttons!) two joystick operation is the only natural way i have found to play any kind of mech games

If XBCD supports the VT controller, I'd definitely go with that, but this is the original VT driver site (in that it's been around since before Redcl0ud added VT support):

http://www.tamanegi.org/prog/vtchid/

The site is in Japanese but he has an english readme it you click around.....

Heh, that's partly why I got the x45.  Though the x52's twisting handle would be a little better to control the torso than the x45's rudder control.

I know on Saitek's website they have a profile for Mechwarrior 4 Vengence.

VT=Vertical Tank, which is what they're called in the game. ;)
