how stable is MAME32 .98v?
« on: July 26, 2005, 11:47:58 am »
I am have been happily running MAME32 .88v for over a year now and thinking about upgrading to MAME32 .98v and all the ROMs.  But will using the exact same hardwares.

Just wondering people using MAME32 .98v out there, how stable is it?  Does it worth for the upgrade? Are there any show stoppers/gotcha in MAME32 .98?

-thanx !!!!

I'd go search MAWS for a few minutes and look at what games have been released between .88 and .98.  Unless there are some games you just GOTTA HAVE, I wouldn't even bother with the upgrade.  You aren't going to get a more "stable" Mame version by upgrading IMHO.  The only thing you might do, depending on your hardware, is slow down some older games that had previously worked.

Link to MAWS if you aren't aware of it: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/
first off your and idiot

I've been running it, and it seems stable. However, I agree with pointdablame - it may slow down some previously fine games. The only real reason to upgrade is if a game has been promoted to working status that you really want, otherwise I would stay with the version you have...

All versions of mame are stable unless otherwise noted.  It's been this way for years.  Mame isn't a crappy mom and pop emulator, it's THE emulator.

I can't really agree, Mame is in a constant cycle of development, any driver could be broken at any given time and we don't try to claim otherwise.
