Auto Remapping??
« on: July 26, 2005, 11:28:33 am »
I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue. Is there a program or hardware that instantly reformat keys for each game. Not just games running under mame, but other games as well. Would it be software in a frontend?

Usually you would remap the keys in each game (I'm assuming you mean PC games?).  If the game does not allow key mapping then some people use a keyboard encoder's software to remap the keys (eg IPAC & WinIPAC software).  This can be done manually or automatically with MAMEWAH...it should be possible to do it from other FE's too, if not by a specific feature then by using batch files.

Is that what you mean?

Not sure if you are referring to other emu's or general individual games?.

In terms of other emu's most of them will have a controls, menu option or ini where you can remap the standard control configuration to whatever you want and then all games that run on that emu will recognise those controls as default.

For individual or PC games afaik you are stuck mapping them individually.

I didn't touch it....honest!
