Anyone know anything about DLP's?

OK I know this is relatively OT, but since I *want* to hook my computer up to this, it counts, right?!

I recently bought a Mistubishi WD-52525. (2 months ago).  Brought it home, tested it with a DVD for like 10 mins, looked great, then didn't turn it on for 2 months as we just moved into a condo and it was in the basement taking up space until my girlfriend went through and unpacked all of her crap.

I finally got to start watching/playing it this weekend... and after 15-45 minues, perfectly evenly spaced blue/white lines show up over the picture.  I saw them disappear once, but they came back like 2 minutes later.  Usually, I have to turn off the tv for like an hour or so and they go away, for about 15 mins.

I'm including links to low res pics of the issue.  Do any of your montior/tv/high end video enthusiasts have ANY IDEA what the hell this is?:

I hadn't gotten a response, so I threw it out here.. Shot in the dark, but there's some very knowledgable people on this forum in multiple areas, so I was hoping maybe someone knows what it is or has seen it before.

Could be a bad DLP Light Processor Chip.  I would try a TV signal just to be sure, to make sure it is not happening on only one input.   DLP uses rotating microscoping mirrors (about a couple million or so) to create an image.  Color is applied via a rapidly spinning wheel that is kept in sync with the mirrors.

I have that exact tv, and love it. I have never had that line issue though, and my recommendation is to contact who sold it to you immediately. That should NOT happen.

It's under manuf. warranty anyways, so I'm going to make sure to get it fixed.  I was totally heartbroken when that happened

For the 15 mins or so that i can watch the TV without this issue, I love it, but I haven't gotten to watch a movie on it or anything yet.

Well if it makes you feel better, when I first got mine, the picture was not level. It needed to be serviced so that everything fit in the screen properly.

I don't know, maybe they transport these things in dune buggies.

Sounds to me like the chip has gone bad. I'm not 100% sure but I think it uses the farudja chip like the Samaung's. Since it's under warranty, it shouldn't really matter but be prepared to get work done once a year or so if you use it a lot.

I'm getting the extended warranty on it, because I plan to use it a lot.

The guy came out to look at it, turns out it's the light engine (which he said is a large & expensive part/parts,  (around $2k?!)).. Thank god for manufacturers warranties.

The part should be in next thursday and he's coming out to fix it.  From then it should be all set. (I HOPE!!)

Extra money for the warantee seems to have already paid itself off. Gotta love when that happens right off the bat.
