Perhaps some help for output to separate LCD?

I've been reading here and there about people outputting either button setups/help diagrams with their systems or separate screens for whatever might be useable....came across this while toodling around, and it's for a PVR, but you can get the source code for it, and perhaps you can see something in it you haven't thought of before, or a better way to do what you want.

If you've got a serial LCD, all you have to do is print/copy some text to the serial port.  I do mine using a batch file.  Doesn't get much simpler than that!
