Monitor Removal Advice Needed
« on: July 17, 2005, 04:46:15 am »
Since I have no blue colour on my monitor I want to remove it.  I'm going to replace it with a computer monitor.

Obviously safety first I thought I'd ask you experienced fellas about the best way to do this.  ;)

I've read some other threads and the majority of people say just unbolt it and have it out.

Can anyone verify if this is the best way to do things?? I've heard that you shouldnt touch the yoke or the cap - fine but which parts are the yoke and the cap (see picture below).

The power wires it gets from the transformer are still attached (duh!) - is it best to disconnect these from the monitor's PCB or from the power supply (the cables are all tidy with a plastic clip).

All I'm really worried about is touching the dangerous stuff - if someone can tell me which bits these are I'll go get my screwdriver.

cheers

Disconnect that blue connector (Monitor inputs) and the power connector (Not pictured), then unbolt it from the game and remove it.  The part you need to stay away from is the anode wire.  The anode wire is the wire that goes from the chassis (Electronics) to the tube and is secured under what looks like a suction cup (It isn't a suction cup though).

Good luck,
