Sound Problem with Star Trek
« on: July 12, 2005, 08:16:18 pm »
I am using MAME32 v0.97 and associated ROM.

I am having a problem with Star Trek.  The game works fine with one exception.  At the beginning of the game after pressing the 1P button the game says "Welcome Aboard Captian".  However this is so muted that the only way I can hear it is on full volume with my head directly next to the speaker.  However the rest of the game sounds seem to have a normal volume at the normal settings I use for most games.

I thought this might be due to stereo channels output to my Mono speaker, but when I switched the outputs it's still the same.  I also checked the settings in Mame as well as the settings in the game by hitting the  " ~ " key.  I played with all of the sound settings, but had no positive impact.

Does anyone else notice this problem or have any ideas for correcting it?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Star Trek uses samples...althought I don't recall being able to set the sample volume specifically.

Open the Star Trek sample zip and playback whatever is in there - see how loud it is, maybe it is very quiet.  If so, try beefing it up with some audio editing software.  Also re-download from mame.net to make sure it is the most current version.

hi, im reviving this thread because I just played ST and I did not hear ANY voice samples at all. I definitely remember voice when I played this in the arcades years ago.

So I checked the SAMPLES zip and not a single one of them is of voice.  So what up??
NO MORE!!
