Yes, get rid of those terrible gambing buttons and get some buttons designed for playing games.  ;D

yeah i had some regular buttons all lined up but the buttons on the photo have a smaller diameter than regular buttons.  I dont want to drill bigger holes.  Can you get buttons of different diameter still off the net?

  • Ascendo tuum!
You could keep the buttons in the front, for credits and pinball flippers.

I agree though that there is no way I would enjoy playing an arcade game with those.

i'll have to measure the hole diameter of the buttons. i know for sure that they're smaller than standard buttons.

Any reason you dont want to drill bigger holes? Is it because you want to keep the CP as it was originally made or maybe you dont want to risk messing it up if you dont feel up to the job?

It looks to me like the top of the control panel screws off. I would suggest making a new panel with propper buttons to replace it. That way it will be easier to make from scratch rather than trying to open the original holes out, and you will also be preserving the original CP and you will always be able to put it back.

yeh the reason i didnt want to drill the existing one was to preserve it plus i'd be too concerned of messing it up.

you reckon replacing it with a new one would be a good idea?

Start measuring and hope that they aren't too odd. If you are lucky they may be able to be replaced with the 24mm or 30m buttons made by Sanwa.

presumably it's just the hole diameter i need to measure?

the only concern i've got with replacing the control panel is the bit indicated with the arrow on the image below. that part is angled (45 degrees?) the wood and the plexiglass overlay.

if i'm lucky i'll be able to get some replacement buttons.

i'll have a measure up and post the measurements.

I posted a response in the BST thread. Basically the answer is Yes, but I've only seen them in the Sanwa style. You can get these from HIMURA Games or RichardP71 from here was selling some a couple of weeks ago.

I included pics of the 24mm buttons in the other thread.

Hope this helps.

yes both richard & himura would send buttons to the UK, they are the ones I have.

you would be best measuring the holes without the buttons in place

in that case then you shouldnt have any problems, might be wiser to get "screw in" buttons rather than "snap in" buttons - UK cabs & the thickness of the CP could cause problems with how some buttons fit

I've dealt with Richardp171 and himura and can highly reccomend them both
