Removing an arcade monitor's mainboard...PICS INSIDE

blue colour keeps going from the display on my arcade monitor (see my other post).

If you would have to remove the anode cap from the tube (suction cup with red wire) to get the board out, you would have to discharge the tube first.

it looks like it'll just unscrew actually - dont think the cap needs to come off as well

Most of the time the monitor main board will unbolt easily to slide out just enough to flip it over to look at it/work on it. Make sure the monitor is unplugged from power. Sometimes you need to unplug the degausser coil and/or the yoke connector to allow the board to slide out enough to work on.

i've taken a photo of the monitor's board.  Can anyone easily tell if removing it will be easy and safe?

i've put some arrows on indicating screws and a plug connector - also an arrow for a potential danger spot.

if anyone could verify removal details that'd be great.

are there likely to be any visual signs that the soldering has cracked??

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I resolder the pins anyway.

what about safety issues of removing the board?? what if flipping the board over causes tothe board touch the stuff above it?

You should be fine, just be careful and treat the monitor with respect.  You will most likely need to unplug the yoke and the degauss coil, then remove the 2 screws and flip the PCB over.  You will then be able to resolder the connectors on the RGB input header.

You should discharge the monitor even if you are not pulling the anode off. It's just a precaution that only takes a moment to do.
