Arcade VGA Driver Install Problems
« on: July 07, 2005, 01:23:33 am »
I am getting closer to having my 27" CGA arcade monitor work with my mame cabinet... but unfortunatly I reached another problem.  Hope one of you can help...

I reconected my computer to a 17" computer monitor so I can get my computer resultion down to 680 x 480.  The problem is the lowest resultion my computer will go is 800 x 600.  So I figured I would install the Drivers that came with my Acade VGA card.  When I try to install it I keep getting the following error message;

"This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter installed in your system"

Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance,
Aki

What card are you trying to install the drivers to?

The arcadevga card cannot hook up to a standard monitor until you have the drivers loaded correctly and run the trisync util.

I'm guessing you took the ArcadeVGA out hook it back up to the computer monitor? And if so that is your problem, they driver looks for the compatible card.  But by some crazy chance you do have the arcadeVGA installed I would make sure you have the right drivers (7000 vs. 9200)  I say this because I bought an arcadeVGA off a guy cheap cause he said it was the old 7000 series but didnt have the drivers, so I downloaded the drivers and kept getting the message you are getting, it drove me crazy.  I finally had the idea to go in to add new hardware to try to force load the drivers, and to my surprise it found the card, but it was actually a 9200 series, so i got the new drivers and it worked like a charm.

But I still think its because the card isnt installed...

If you want to get it down to 640 x 480 on the settings tab where you can chose your res, click advance then click on the adapter tab.  You will see a button that says list all modes.  Click that and you will see a list of all the resolutions availiable to you.  640 x 480 will be in there double click it and then apply/exit.

This should drop your res down to 640 x 480 with your normal card
