viper was teh first, but i've heard good things about the others as well.  I dont think you can go wrong with either.  I do believe the qoob one has USB though, instead of a serial connector.

for initial firmware flashing.  After teh first time, you can update via disk for both of them, unless there is additional functionality that I'm unaware of.

I'm not an expert on teh subject

well... seems like new grounds to open here,
I do have 2 game cubes.  ;)
maybe 1 at a time and do a review.
on witch is the least difficult one to install, pros and cons

might want to check into the xecuter case mods and see what they recomend for a modchip.  those new cases they designed are top notch

I have a qoob pro. It has some nice features like more memory banks so you can flash applications on it like the action replay chea engine. Plus the bios gets updated frequently unlike the viper

Qoob works just fine. I've heard more problems with viper, alot of people switching to qoob now. I just installed 2 Qoob SX's over the weekend and they are flawless. The only think you might have to do is tweak your laser to read DVD-R's. If you want to be able to "backup" games you need a broadband adapter or a Qoob Pro, which can both be hooked up to a PC, because the GC rom reads media backwards, so there's no way of copying from a normal PC DVD drive. Well worth the $39 USD :)
