eharmony
« on: July 04, 2005, 04:23:44 am »
So, I spent the massive amount of time it takes to fill out the eharmony questionaire.

I got 5 matches, all 5 are preschool/daycare workers.

At first I thought that was really odd, but the more I think about it the more I realize how much I like the kinds of girls who do that.

Still not joining, as I am not paying $50 for a mild chance one of 5 women might ALSO be a paying member and might also be interested in me, but I still thought it was weird how similar all 5 women were.

NINJA EDIT YEARS LATER

In 2010 I married a woman who used to be a daycare worker.

1 in 5 huh?

Do it 15 times and take all three girls into that cool motorhome for some pole position.

Also, 3 of the 5 are older than me. The questionaire didn't ask anything about ages. I HAVE to be older, its hard to explain, but it is sort of like I don't feel like I have anything to offer any older women, so I can't even begin to get interested in them.

Nothing to do with THAT, more of a money thing. I make $11-something an hour, most women 28+ are going to make more than that, and very few women seem to be interested in men who make less money than they do. I do however out-earn most girls in their early 20s, thus I prefer them simply for the fact that it makes my income much less of an issue (or not one at all).

Hee hee, never said they were. I'd still rather avoid the hassle.

Also, I am more used to, more comfortable around, more confident around, and generally just more MYSELF around younger girls. All that adds up to ME being happier with them, and THEM being happier with me.

That's a fair comment. Young girls have more enthusiasm about life. The day to day grind hasn't sucked it out of them yet turning them into twisted bitter creatures.

They are fun to be around.

I prefer older women. Not ALOT older, but a few years (26-30). I'm 25 so it's been my experience that most women younger than me are fickle. That may not be the case in 5-10 years, but it is now.

On the subject of eHarmony, though, I've been a member for a while now. It's not cheap, but I do like it. I've noticed ALOT of women are teachers, though. I'm thinking there must be some sort of marketing program or special advertising geared towards teachers.

I just started cleaning out my list last night. I had over 500 matches. Granted, I've been a member for quite a while already so I've had plenty of time to accumulate. I've narrowed it down to about 100. Today I'll probably narrow that down to 50 or less. That's still pretty good odds, though.

Ok, I reduced my list from 520-something to 44. Either I sent them a message or I deleted them. I'd say at least 300 are gone because they didn't have pictures posted.

If not getting a match bummed you out take a look at this.

I am for the most part in a happy marriage. A co-worker of mine pointed me to this site and I thought it was pretty funny. The guy who wrote it eventually did get married and it actually is a good read if you have some time.

What took forever? The eHarmony sign-up? They'll send a couple of matches every day or two. They don't just hit you with a bunch all at once. But be nice to your GF.  :P

btw, a friend of mine used a different service after using eharmony.  He got MUCH better results.  The questioneer was based on some psychology (don't tell Tom Cruise) and everyone he got hooked up with worked out well.  He ended up dating for more then a week 4-5 girls (tons of dates) and one for about 8 months.

I dont' remember the name of the company but if your interested I can shoot him an email.

I've had subscriptions with match, love.com, eharmony, ittakes2, and yahoo personals. I think love.com and ittakes2 are total wastes of money. Their websites suck. The rest are all pretty good IMO.

That's an easy one to figure out.  That chick you were dating who wanted her space, and you not to be in it, didn't sign up ;D

There's SO many "categories" you fit in, I'm sure that's the problem.  They simply couldn't narrow you down.  Try telling them you're searching for the 6-fingered man.  That outta narrow it down.

I did the eharmoney thing a while back to see what it would match me with (I had no intention of paying those super high fees though) I got back zero in my city, I was like ok, how about state....nothing.  Hmm, Country then? Nope,  Ok I thought, SOMEONE in this crazy world would match, so I extended my limits to the entire world and nothing, nada, zip, ZERO!  I forgot to narrow  my search back down again (or tell them I dont want to be a member anymore) and so occasionally I'll get a match from some chick thousands of miles from me....

Maybe I shouldn't have put so much emphasis on looks and well, how shall we say easyness?

So your plan is to lure chicks into the van down by the river, get them drunk, and do what, kill them and dump them overboard?  Seriously, if he thinks chicks are so hard to find now that he's using a dating service, wait until he's living in a trailer.

I haven't dated much in the past four years or so. I actually planned on just not mentioning the motorhome until it comes up, if the woman actually likes me and we have been dating for a little while then it isn't going to matter anymore.

Correct, maybe much longer. I won't exactly have the type of place that one would want to do a lot of entertaining in. My thing with Sarah went on for a couple years and never one of us ever went to the other one's house.

It's in there nature to want to see where you live,  if you make excuses about why you don't want to go there they will think something is up with you, don't feel bad about your home, if they don't like it too bad.

Oh, I won't be making any excuses either. I am not big on either lying or excuses, but "I live in the RV park" is generally not stuff you want to bring up on the first few dates.

Hell..... Why even bother to sidestep the issue?

If you rock up on a date, the question is going to come up, - "So where do you live"?

Be proud & tell her your reasons. Say where you lived it was noisy and sucked and you weren't enjoying life.

Tell her you like the quieter life and this lifestyle suits your requirements. If you are well-dressed and well-presented,  use this to your advantage.

Then get her pissed.

She won't buy it then - if you tell her, you're trailer trash and get ditched.  If you don't tell her - NO MATTER HOW YOU THINK YOU OMITTED IT - she will think you lied to her and ditch you.

Once you get beyond the party age limit of about 23, women are all about social climbing, status, and what you have to offer them that they don't already have.  Any woman older than about 23 who isn't climbing is usually not worth having because she'll stay a party chick and no one needs a 40 year old party skank.

Sure, living in the RV makes financial sense, but you've given yourself the high hard one socially.
