RGB from DVD player/TV reciever into arcade monitor?
« on: July 02, 2005, 06:57:03 am »
I was going to put a TV tuner into the mame machine to watch TV once I had the cabinet sorted out, but I was thinking it would be easier to take the RGB from the scart on a satellite reciever and jam that into the arcade monitor.

Has anyone done so? Also was thinking of the same from a DVD player. Is macrovision a problem?

If your DVD player can output RGB SCART, you can connect it to an arcade monitor directly.   The same with a TV Tuner.

Additionally, there are Composite, S-Video, and Component Video to RGB converters available too.

Does it look ok tho? It seems the arcade monitors have a different gamma to a TV set, and I couldnt see any adjustment on the one I was looking at getting to bring the dark areas up in brightness a bit without totally washing out the blacks.
