My Cocktail

Well here it is - my first post and first cabinet. Its a straight-forward cocktail based on Lindstrom plans with an extra Arcade Depot style front control panel. Material is oak veneered mdf (not too happy with the varinish/stain I went with, too orange).

I guess the only thing slightly different about it is that the monitor is a 19" lcd (a decased Acer AL1913s). Its an MVA panel so has very wide viewing angles in all directions - close to 180 degrees. Makes it a hell of a lot lighter and easier to move.

For a FE I'm using GameEx - a fantastic product in my opinion. I've got in on my wireless network at home which is great for Internet radio, configuration via VNC etc.

It was quite an expensive project in the end, mainly because I'm based in the UK and had to source a lot of stuff from the States. Also anything you can get in the UK is about twice as expensive. An 8' x 4' sheet of oak mdf is

Wow, you don't see too many first posts with a completed project, nevermind one that looks like that.  Congrats, that is a cab to be proud of...

Could you say a few things about the lights in the CPs?

I could tell you. It's a frosted plexi replacement to a the wood you typically find there to make it easier to see the controls in the dark since you don't have the benefit of the monitor to light them up.

there is white plexi there on my original midway cocktail too, with 2 bulbs on each side.

man, good looking cab.  seeing yours reminded me I haven't finished the lighting part.

I'm telling the LAST thing you need to do to a cab is hook up the controls  ;D

I never follow that though.

congrats again.

I'm gonna be building one for myself very soon. It's good to see examples.

Lighting above the cps is opal perspex (plexi) with a 12" blue cold cathode tube behind each. The type people use to mod there pc cases. They were very cheap, a few pounds in the UK, but give a nice effect.
