VGS and Mamewah...
« on: June 30, 2005, 07:51:22 pm »
Is there any one who knows a method to run "Connectix Virtual game Station" in mamewah.I already using epsxe in mamewah but here i need to play in VGS in mamewah for some reasons,Obviously VGS also running ISO images but as it is not a command line emulator so it
can't afford any simple ISO image loading like epsxe.

please let me inform if you know it.

thanx in advance....

I'm not familiar with VGS.  But you say it cannot work with a commandline?  Try it even if it has a gui, it might work...from a commandline I mean (not from mamewah) - see what happens.

It is also working with command line  :)
But it is not the solution of my problem.Actually VGS runs directly from a  CD-ROM or by Using an ISO image loaded in virtual CD rom.
When we Run VGS,If there is CD-ROM/Virtual CD-rom contains a CD then the game automatically Run.
There is are only two options under "Filemenu"
1)Load Game
2)Exit

I want to run a bunch of games under VGS and mamewah.
I can think that there are only two ways for doing this.

1)Use any other software within mamewah which automatically   Load and Eject ISO image.

2)Increase the total numbers of Virtual CD-ROMS and Load all the ISO images in each of them.So mamewah should call them according to selection of a specific game.

but i can't be able to figure it out. :-\

How do you mount these virtual drives?  Daemon Tools or something?

Do they have to be virtual drives or can you just have the iso's placed in game-named folders?

I've just setup SegaCD but that doesn't require virtual drives (just iso/bin's).  I know JCrouse has setup some emulators which use virtual drives, so one of us should be able to help :)

well, I don't know . What are Daemons tools.
No,The emulator does not support ISO image loading feature. It can just run it with in a virtual CD ROM.I don't know how to automatically
Mount or Eject ISO Image work with mamewah.

ahmer -

If I'm understanding right, you want to mount and unmount ISO images from MAMEWAH, so that VGS will find the ISO image in your system.

I do this (well similar) all the time with Daemon Tools (google is your friend).

Daemon tools can take MOUNT and UNMOUNT commands on a commandline. Badabing badaboom, you can easily make a script that mounts the ISO before calling your emulator, and unmounts it upon return.

Hope I understood what you're after. Good luck!

So how do you create the virtual cd-rom?

I used Alcohol 120% (CD burning/ISO image making) software.

Absolutely right. :-\

It Simply mean that whenever we mount an ISO image in Virtual CD-ROM,and run VGS then VGS will automatically run that game.

OK I think for now you need to use a batch file, to mount the drive, run VGS and unmount.  This would work fine from Mamewah, but I'm no use at batch files so I can't help with that.

I'm working on some new features which will allow you to do this straight from Mamewah, assuming Alcohol 120% can be run from a commandline...

I've asked JCrouse to have a look - I think he has a similar setup so should be able to help you out.
