Got Windows on arcade monitor using PowerStrip - but games are garbled! help

so near yet so far - just got powerstrip configured in arcade mode - xp comes up on the arcade monitor a treat.   I was well pleased.

Then I ran a few games from mame in dos but the display goes all messed up.

Anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

Personally, and I mean no offense, it sounds like you're just trying to do to much at once.

First the audio problems, now video, and who knows what else. 

Try slowing down and working on one area at a time, the others will come into play as you progress.

Did you even try downloading the EasyMAMEcab CD you were told about?

Running games in DOS? Or running games from a command line in a window in XP? (There's a world of difference.)

Yea, I don't think Power Strip works under DOS (unless there's a dedicated DOS version).  You need to mess with your video setting in mame.ini to make sure you're generating a signal the monitor can display.  I've never tried PowerStrip myself so I can't really give specific advice.

The MAME settings just need to match your Windows settings so that MAME doesn't attempt to take over and change everything Powerstrip is doing. Use Powerstrip for the tuning, and then just don't let MAME steal it.

got it all working fine - downloaded advancemame, connected the arcade monitor and everything worked great.  i'll post some instructions later.
