EmuMovies Super Nintendo AVI Game Previews Released!
« on: June 27, 2005, 12:30:29 am »
www.emumovies.com

6/26/05
Super Nintendo AVI Game Previews
707 Files 3.47GB
320x240 128MP3

This is the US Set of Game previews for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.  I captured

all images using ZSNES, so any games that didn't seem playable were not captured.

The previews consist of a sampling of gameplay and then the title screen.  Some are as short as

15 seconds and some are longer than 2 minutes.  It just depended on the game and what I felt

needed to be captured in order to achieve a good sampling.  Remember MameWah and 3D Arcade

frontends loop the avi files so I kept that in mind when ripping.

Use in frontends such as MameWah, 3D Arcade or GameEX.

Samples will be located at www.emumovies.com.

You can download the free DIVX decoder at www.divx.com, make sure that you disable the divx

logo in the decoder's settings for best results.

Amazing work Circo.  I wish the mame videos circulating were as high quality as these.  Many thanks!

Very awesome.  Best thing I've seen come along in awhile.  Once this really catches on with the others, watch out.  You have shifted yourself up into the stratoshpere with this one!  Thanks for all the time and effort.

Wow thanks for all the great comments!  I really apreciate it, and a M.A.M.E. set is in the works I am currently complete through B, I know that doesn't sound like much but these are literally done by hand, each and every one.  I may do incremental releases for the mame set, because it is huge, just not sure yet.

Anyway, glad you all have found these movies helpful, since I can't program an emulator this seems to be the best way for me to give back, considering I have been into emulation for almost 10 years now, still loving it!

Thanks,
Circo

Also I have posted some pics up on my site if anyone is interested.

Circo - going to make a suggestion here for Mame. You probably already known about Buddabings Mame attract movie maker, and have your reasons for doing them by hand.

Just wanted to suggest that you run the movie maker and let it create attract movies for you, and you then go through them and manually create ones where it failed. This I would imagine would save you huge amounts of time? Most arcade game attract sequences do actually include gameplay too.

If not, never mind... I'm not sure how you create all these, but if its no hassle, could you keep a record of the frames you render? (ie start and finish?) That would be a huge help....

email me if any of thats unclear!

The reason that I am doing them by hand is because I want each one to start with gameplay and then end with the title.  That sometimes means starting the recording in the middle of the attract sequence.  Correct me if I am wrong but by using buddabings it will start from the beginning of the attract mode to the end, correct?  I would spend more time editing than just doing it by hand.  I am also creating my lcd files at the same time and setting up controls so it is not all bad.

If I am wrong about how buddabings works let me know.  Also I have no idea what frames I am starting and stopping on.  How do you find out?

I am willing to try it out but I have never tried to compile mame before, it would be really easy if someone has already compiled this and could email it to me.

Buddabing always compile it - look at the Mame Movie Maker thread:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,29661.0.html

Its a *very* long thread, but Buddabing always has the latest build available in his first post I believe.

You will also need his listgen program, and make an batch file (should be described in the first post). You also need a free program called Virtualdub to generate the movies, and obviously a video codec. It defaults to Xvid although this can be changed. It may look a bit messy to get going but its pretty logical.

The system works by running mame and saving every frame into image (png file). While running Buddmame scans for repeated sequences of images and when it identifies a loop it saves the result and quits. The batch file then calls Virtualdub to create an avi from the images based on the loop info - so the video is made of the looping sequence, which removes all the bios startup stuff. (This is a pretty crude overview).

Circo, if interested I have mame movie maker setup and contained with all required files including vdub and buddamame in a single folder.  All that would be needed is the listgen file which I could make for you as well (I stripped down the listgen when making movies for my favorites only).  And mame movies maker does a really nice job.

Anyways let me know if interested and I'll zip the folder up for you and thanks again.

Yeah I would be very interested.  If you could send the files to circo0@yahoo.com, I believe I can accept large enough files at that address.  Thanks!

That would be great John.  If it's no trouble could you PM me the info?  I tried sending it through gmail but since the zip file contains exe files, google won't let me send it.  My ISP account gave me a size error, so the ftp would be great.

Also circo, I have 50 invites to join gmail if you would like one.  That goes for anyone else as well, just pm me.

If you still want to email, you can either try renaming the zip to zip.txt - that gets by some email checkers.

Or zip twice (once without compressing, but it doesn't really matter). Safest is probably zip, rename to *.txt then zip again and email that.

Or just go FTP!

Hey, I'd love it if a few of you guys could seed those SNES vids again.

I have to download them on a laptop at public internet connections, which means I can't let the machine just down/up load all the time.  So, naturally, I got about 35% done quickly and then had to stop.

I try to seed as much as possible, but I'm limited by the time on the Internet and space on the harddrive.  Right now I'm uploading the Daphne vids, which I have 100%, and the Video Game Commercial Pack for Mamewah, which I have at 86% currently.

Hopefully, next year, when I move back into town, I will have a consistent connection that will allow me to upload more.

I feel like I missed the boat on these.  Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
KenToad

Yup, I've got about 90 kb/sec going up on the SNES vids and only about 10 kb/sec coming down.

Like walking through a bog. :-\

Again, nice work Circo.  I'm loving the ones I've seen so far.

Cheers,

The ones hosted on petrifieds are always so much faster because of the ratios (people stick around and seed).  On emuparadise most folks just take off once complete, I will start up the snes movies on my end, If anyone else could help seed that would be great!

Hey McCoy178,

If you still can, would you mind seeding those SNES vids overnight?  I'm still at 80% and now I have a continuous connection.  I'm upping between 40 and 60 kb/s at any given moment to 3 peers, but nothing is coming the other way.

Any assistance would be much appreciated--so I can get these things finished.  I'm also upping the Video Game Ads and the Daphne Vids, all from Circo.

Cheers,
KenToad

I'm sorry, I downloaded them to my laptop, and I transfered them to my Cabinet.  The problem I have is space issues.  Again, I appologize.  I kept them on the laptop for about a week after getting them so I wouldn't be a full fledged leach.

No problem.  I understand.  I have the same problem.  My laptop is my primary downloading device as well.  I usually try not to limit my upload speed and leave them on there for a while if possible.  Usually, there are other sources if I really want something, but these are unique.

Eventually, whoever's getting my uploading will catch up, I suppose and there will be a few of us with 80%, unless something changes.  Maybe Circo himself can bring us up to speed.

Thanks anyway.

Cheers,
KenToad

Yup, there's one seeder (that you, Kobex?) and the computer will stay on for a while.  My upload is still jumping around 60 kb/s and less.

I checked Circo's forum briefly, didn't see that he would be hosting these elsewhere, but maybe I missed it.

Can't wait for the MAME and Genesis vids.

awesome - these look perfect for helping me finish off my frontend - a hefty download but be worth it longterm

a question though,

now I added the daphne videos and lynx videos no problem, however I get a "invalid bencoding" message when I try to add the snes files? is the file damaged perhaps....mind I am using edonkey with its provided BT plugin.  I've tried older BT programs ages back with little to no success, and to be honest this is the first time I've used the BT plugin but the other files are coming down nicely at 40k/sec

any ideas?

Looking for someone to help seed some of these torrents again.  Folks haven't been doing a great job of seeding these.  Please stay connected when you have them all, so we can all share!

Specifically, I am interested in the NES and SNES sets - there are a few peers there, but we're all 70-90% complete!

Thanks for any help.
