MAME and MAMEWAH Mayhem!!!

okokok so I know nothing about MAME.    I have been into Original arcade machines for like ever but now I want to build my own using XBOX and MAME. The XBOX part I have under control, but I can't get my MAME to work. I am going to list here what I am doing and hope someone can point me in the right direction:

1. Download MAME .97 for windows cmd line
 - extract to (C:\mame) directory
 - put galaga rom (because I own Galaga machine) into roms folder in said directory
 - then type C:\mame\mame.exe galaga

I get this error message that says unable to open keyboard device (error 32)
Then a huge list of files that can't be found. (all files in galaga.zip)
Then it says Error files are missing game cannot be run
Unable to close the keyboard device, (error 6).


And on top of that Mamewah just says no games found

If there is a data repository of all the mame I need to know please tell me. otherwise

   PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Are you sure your using the proper Galaga rom for mame 0.97?

yeah I think so. Any way I got it to work for galaga. I still can't get mamewah to work right. Im not sure how its supposed to be set up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you just supposed to enter the mame.exe file for the execute function then list the location of your rom files for mamewah to find and execute on it's own?

"c:\mame\mame.exe galaga" just looks like a problem waiting to happen. I don't use mamewah much but that line just looks weird to me.

Not entirely sure if you are running this on your PC or X-Box?. If its on your X-Box I think you need a specific build of mame (Mame-oX??) to run on it. Try this link to learn more.

Also if you are running it on your PC you need to configure command line mame using the command line first. Head over to Mame.net for a thorough run down of everything you need to do. They have an extensive FAQ that should be able to answer any questions you may have.

I am definitely using a pc for mame, and I am trying to figure out hoe mamewah is supposed to work.

I know it is supposed to point to an emulator and then a list of games but I just don't know how to set that up. All the sites I have checked out didn't quite hit it. Maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for....

If you have mame working on the rom then to get mamewah working read all the info in the doc directory for mamewah.  There are alot of files to setup with directory info and then you have to geneate a game list within mamewah.

I finally figured out that i should be gooooogling for mamewah TUTORIAL instead of mamewah walk-through lol... heh ok...
