Best way to put a marquee on the wall?
« on: June 25, 2005, 03:36:46 pm »
Just won this Outrun marquee on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6186954536&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

It's too big to go in my cab but i wanted it to go in my game room on the wall.  Other than blu-tak what's the best method to attach it to the wall without putting screws etc through it?

Congrats on your new acquisition!
Ideally you'd construct a mountable light box so that it can be lit up like on a machine.
The cheaper route would be to construct your own custom picture frame at the local art shop and use the marquee instead of glass.
This is obviously all done after you scan and upload the marquee to the Library ;D

A close-up photo on most(not all) marquees with at least 5 mega-pixel capability would probably be adequate.  You could also photograph it in 2 or 3 detailed parts.  Obviously the better the camera, the better the results.
What I'm doing, with excellent results, is scanning all my marquees at 300 dpi in 3 parts.  Scanning(and ultimately tracing) is the ideal method for artwork preservation.
You can upload your arcade artwork pics to the Library here:
http://localarcade.com/arcade_art/

This is the main repository for arcade artwork at the moment.

"Search" is neat-o!  This is what I meant by mountable lightbox....

I must admit it's not my own but it still makes me laugh
The really funny thing is that it's an animated gif, but doesn't work on byoac for some reason.  The animated version is about 214% more entertaining.  PM if interested.

My brother built a lightbox for his marquees. I'll take a picture when I can.
