HELP!!!!! Side panel art assistance
« on: June 22, 2005, 03:53:44 pm »
I am a noobie here on the forums (well been watching and researching for two months now, but only recently signed up).  I am acquiring 2 stripped cabs 4th July weekend (freebies to boot  ;D)  ONe is a Midway "Checkmate" and the other is a Stern "Scramble" (KLOV has tehm listed).  I need to know a cheap route to mkae a custom side panel art out of a piece of art I made on poster board in HS!  help!!

What's on this poster board? Is it drawn or painted? Do you want it in a different size or the same size?

it is painted on in (Tecra- i think that is what it is called) paint.  Bold colors.  It is basically a reproduction/ enlargement of the Spec. Ed. cover of one of the Return of SUperman Issues with the Cyborg's face on it and Superman coming out of it.  Superman is in full color and the cyborg is two-tone (human half of face is painted and machine half is black/white).

I bet I have that comic somewhere! Do you have it? That would be a prime target for vectorizing. That would make it scalable and clear. Unfortunately, my vector skills are lacking.

Did you make changes to the original when you made your poster that would like to keep? Or would you prefer to have a copy of the original comic cover? I say this, because it would probably be easier to reproduce from a smaller size like a comic cover than from something as large as a poster. I don't want to even think about how expensive it would be to get something that size scanned.

yea I have the original safely behind the same picture frame as the artwork.  The only reason I like it (the original art) is that it was my work on the enlargement.  I wonder what Kinkos would charge to scan that?  (hmm... note to self).  also, I am largely new to all of this.  I am not really familiar with Vectorizing.  I have seen the name on here before, but not good at this.  also, while we are at it, know of any good control panel designing software that is cheap (generally interpretted as free ;D)?  I wnat this done right.

yea, but i have a wierd shaped control panel.  It is essentially a showcase CP that will go along with a normal upright cab.
