From what I've seen you have to spend about $100 to get them at $4 apiece. By Christmas time they'll be down to $1 I hope. Personally I have never even used a DL disk. Too expensive. But that wasn't my point. My point is that paying $50 for a single layer burner, that is probably slower too and probably only supports + or - but not both, is dumb when you can get a much better drive, brand new, for the same price. Whether you're going to use DL or not, and you will as soon as the price of media comes down a bit further, is practically irrelevant to the fact that $50 for that drive is a ripoff.
Considering that a year ago D/L discs were $25 apiece I think we will be using them sooner than some of you think.
