« on: June 21, 2005, 05:01:27 pm »
I know jamma pcb boards have a seperate sound board, but some dont! I see all these boards on ebay but no sound board. I emailed this guy on one of them and he said that the sound was built into the board! how do I know which boards have sound built on them or not????

You just have to do some research on the board your looking for, it's real easy to find a picture of any PCB online to see if it has a seperate sound PCB.

Nope ... even for single board games, you may require an external amp (I have an EggVenture like that).

Cheers.

And then sometimes you have a choice. My Galaga 88 board has two options. There is mono sound that goes out the via the JAMMA connector, and this is controlled through an onboard amp. And then if I want stereo sound instead, I need to connect seperately through some extra pins on the board. I don't know if these are amplified or not...

The vast majority of JAMMA boards have an onboard amp and DO NOT have a separate sound board.

Really, the only ones I have seen with separate sound board are stuff on Midway hardware. You could always tell that Williams/Midway and Gottlieb were REALLY pinball machine companies, by the way they did their hardware.
