Can't find smoked plexi in my area?
« on: June 20, 2005, 11:51:59 pm »
Ok I have called all over in my area! (Ocean County NJ) I can't find smoked plexi anywere!!!!!! Everyone has clear. I really don't want to drive over two hours for a piece of smoked plexi. Is it not a hot seller? Forget Home Depot I called 4 of them. Any suggestions or should I just chance ordering what I need online?

I want to cover my screen in the smoked plexi but before I do I wanted to know if there were different tints or kinds of it? Light, dark, or is smoked plexi just smoked plexi? Thanks for any info as I will be looking to buy the plexi this weekend.

Yes, there is a difference.  I recommend searching the board for relevant threads as this has been discussed in depth a number of times.

If you're looking for smoked plexi, make sure it's grey and not brown. The brown can interfere with the colors given off by your monitor and make everything look wierd.

this may seem overly simplistic, and i am sure there is a reason it can't be done otherwise someone already would have suggested it, BUT...

why don't you just get regular plexi and use car window tint film on it?

PS please don't flame me if this has already been discussed...

It has been done by people on the board. I don't know how it turned out, though. I guess as long as you get grey/black tint since it comes in so many different colors.
