Yet, somehow, they still have trouble accepting gays in their ranks.

Yeah, but now they've started accepting mullets, lesbians should be flocking to them. Only a matter of time before the entire German army is comprised solely of mullet-clad-man-hating-dykes.

Well, when they choke to death because the can't get their gas mask on because of the hair, it will weed them out.

Also, they will be rather inconvienced when in war they can't get the lice out of their hair I'm sure that will be a problem also.

Actually, you're right on the money. The reason Roman soldiers were required to cut their hair back in the day was because of 1) discipline, but more importantly, 2) to prevent communicable parasites like lice.

In addition, having long hair and trying to put on an NBC mask is not fun. We run through drills about once a week, and its the females that are the last to don their gear. Not because they don't know what they're doing (although it sure looks that way), but rather because most of 'em have long hair (shoulder length) and in order to don your mask properly, you have to lean forward and put your face into the mask, keeping the hood out of the way and giving yourself enough space to grip the pull tabs for a snug fit.

I know, I was in the Army.

It was because of the uniform, because it was easier to find ticks and parasites, and it was cooler.

You didn't sweat as much, you didn't have hair falling in your eye when you were aiming your weapon, etc.

Looks like the germans will lose their next war too.

It's just another example of lowering standards to fit the lowest common denominator.  This is what is causing the general weakening of many Western cultures, ours included.

That's all the troops need, to have unmotivated, poor 'soldiers' watching their back in a guerilla warfare situation.  It worked so well in Vietnam.

If we would just keep troop usage to situations dealing with clear and present danger, we wouldn't need enough military personnel for a draft.  I sure as hell wouldn't want my sons drafted and sent over to Iraq to keep order on some sand covered street on the other side of the planet.
