19" tube mounting dimensions (or, 19" vs 20"?)
« on: June 18, 2005, 12:35:40 pm »
If anyone has a non-installed 19" monitor handy (or a cab with an exposed 19"), could someone please tell me the measurements between the mounting holes on tabs attached to the tube (that mount the tube to the frame)?  Trying to determine if a standard 19" tube will fit the frame off a Nanao monitor I've got here.

Nanao calls this a 20" monitor, but that would seem to be non-standard if it is, in fact, a different size than a 19" - and I know there can be some discrepency in how monitor sizes are stated (a '29"' monitor is really what we would call a 27", for example).

FWIW, the bolt holes on the tabs of this tube are 17" center to center horizontally, 13" vertically.

The centres on a Hanterex MTC 9000 I have here are 17", I believe the tube on this is a 19" but it depends how you measure it.  ie 19" visible viewing area, but if you measure it from corner to corner it's nearer 20".

Out of interest what chassis do you have on that Nanao?

I am in need of a flyback see my post lower down "flyback for MC2100s" for my ultra rare Sega 200-5058 Nanao 21" monitor which has a Nanao MC2000s Chassis, or otherwise known as a Kaga KZ-20EN/ES.

Regards

Nick

Yeah, that's the discrepency I was referring to with regards to the "Japanese" measurements vs the "US" measurements - tube size vs viewable size.  I'm guessing this is probably a 20" tube, but what we would consider a 19" monitor...

It mounts to the cabinet with some strange tabs attached to the monitor frame, so it would be easiest to use the existing frame with a new tube and chassis installed rather than modifying the cabinet to accept different mounting.  Just need to make sure I don't buy a monitor that's not going to fit the frame.

It's a 200-5072 from a Sega Hang-On machine.  The main board is marked 5A00110C1 and the neck board 519A1.

I was hoping it might have been a Nanao MC2000s, I think you'll find you've got a Nanao MS7-20S which has 10 pin neck connection, so wouldn't be compatible with the tube I have.  It looks like I will probably be buying one of Jomacs replacement chassis for the MC2000s to get this going.
