arcade monitor picture is red and rolling
« on: December 12, 2002, 09:47:45 pm »
i have a well&gard monitor it has 6 pins (r,g,b...) and 3 pins(sync). i try to connect it from pc to arcade so cut vga cable i see a lot of wires in there red, green, blue, black, orange,and white are the wires that i used also there are pink, light blue, light green, and others wires.  Early this morning when i connect i got some pictures but they are all in red color and rolling vertically.  Does anyone know what could be the problem.  And also i don't have the original video connector so i just use the female crimp connector for pins.
Thanks for any help or reply

You are making good progress;

The red picture problem could be something as simple as the colour levels on the screen. Twiddle with the red, green and blue pots on the neck of the monitor to see if you can get this fixed up.
It could aslo be a mixup with the witing or a bad connection. but try messing with your levels first.

The Rolling issue looks like a job for the good old vert hold pot. mess with that one a bit to see if you can't get it stable. Once again, this could also be a wiring issue on your cable.

Just before old monitors die (cap leakage) they sometimes get a rolling picture that cannot be corrected. Hope this is not the case...

thanks for reply.  I tried most of the knobs but still no go.  however on the picture knob before if i turned it up then there are colors appears but the screen is so bright up, kinda like when u turn brightness to max on a tv the dark screen is so bright up the picture doesn't look clear & sharp anymore.  And on the molex connector i didn't solder them to the wires, do i have to solder them?

You don't HAVE to solder them , but make sure that that the wires are correctly connected and that none of them are shorted out onto another. Also check that you have connected red to red, sync to sync etc.

sorry fir the short answer. drunk
