DC vga boxes?
« on: June 16, 2005, 03:34:49 pm »
Where can these be purchased?  I really want one with a vga passthrough, like the  Interact Performance one, but im not entirely sure where I should start my search for these.  Any advice?

I have the 'VGA Box' from this link.  Easy to hack for an arcade monitor and works great so far...

Not sure as I bought it at the same time as some other (large) items.  It is really light so I would guess the shipping charge should be minimal.

I got my Naki off eBay for cheap. No VGA pass thru on that one. Pass-thru is a feature that people seem to want.

Please post here if you find a good retailer that sells the Performance model. It'd save me some some swapping that I'm sure will one day end with bent pins.

What's a pass-through?

What's a pass-through?

It's got VGA (and sometimes audio) in and out. So you hook up your monitor to the VGA box, and you also hook up your DC and computer. When you power off the DC, the VGA box senses it and then automatically allows the VGA signal from the computer to "pass-thru" to the monitor. Bottom-line: you don't have to swap the monitor cable between the DC and the computer each time you want to use one or the other. You leave it all hooked up and when you power up the DC, the computer gets cut off.

Perfect for a PC MAME and Dreamcast cabinet.

You can I'm sure. I've had picture quality problems with cheap manual switches, but YMMV.

Mine seems fine...I don't doubt they can cause problems tho.  Also old/crap cables can also have an effect...
