I am using a WG9200 and the ultimarc arcadevga, and there is a lot of flicker on the windows desktop screen. After searching around and reading information posted on ultimarc's website I found the AVGA_Trisync.exe to update the drivers for the card. When I install this, it does a perfect job of fixing the flicker on the desktop but I lose the ability to play certain games, (Gorf, Asteroids/Deluxe, ect). Whenever I load these games the monitor comes back with an out of range error. The diaster really hits if you switch to 1024 x 768 on the desktop using the quickres file they offer as it now becomes a permanent out of range error, which requires a reboot into safe mode to remove the drivers/video card and reinstall.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to use the Trisync to reduce the flicker and still maintain the frequency ranges needed to play all of the games?

Is there another file or fix that can reduce the desktop screen flicker? Any help would be appreciated.

Use the avga resolution tool to set your video modes in mame.
(I bet you have it set to auto for resolution currently)

And quit using the quick res util, after you setup your cab just leave it at 1 resolution. (Desktop is at 800x600, Mamewah is 640x480)

Also for the 9200 I would recomend some active cooling across the neck board.
I've got 2 80mm fans blowing across it.

Does this program work with mame32? I downloaded and installed it, but I can't get it to find any roms, or INI files, ect. I point it to the correct path but no go, I don't see any reference as to whether it is command line mame or win32 version, but it doesn't seem to function under the mame32.

I think I might have a new problem as now when I switch to the 800 x 600 I get double image blurry across the middle of the screen, top and bottom seem to work or look fine, 640 x 480 looks great.

As a side note, how do I uninstall the quick res utility, I can't seem to find where it is loading from.

Sorry so many questions, I swear I am not computer illiterate, but I am not a windows/programming guru either.

Hey dabone, thanks for the tip, I was able to change the resolution in mame32, by selecting the game and going to file/properties while it is selected, I can change the settings for each game...your tip helped me get there and get it up, now I just need to look up the default res for vector games.

I also found quickres in prefetch folder under windows and system32, by removing both of those I have stopped it from starting up. Not sure if there are any other parts hiding somewhere, but this will do the trick for now.

I finally did find out that mawhah is for the dos version of mame, which looking back I should have prob started with that one, but I have this one tweaked quite a bit and it would require a whole new learning curve to switch now.

Can't seem to get windows desktop to 1024 x 768, but I got 800 x 600 working very well and flicker free, I think I might have had some conflicts between the various software drivers I installed trying to fix the issue. This works for me, so now I just need to work on the performance for some of the chd games.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.
