The autopsy said the broken bones were caused by "prolonged immobility induced osteoporosis and complicating H.O.[heterotopic ossification] in an environment of intense physical therapy." i.e. her bones were weak and there was abnormal bone growth. 

The autopsy used this diagnosis from previous medical records.  More fully understanding what this means would be required.  Something like this:

The family maintained:

   1. The report confirmed her condition and disability. (It did not make the claim that Terri was terminal or in any way in danger of becoming terminal.) The report confirmed that Terri was brain damaged and not brain dead, it also indicated Terri could have lived another 10 years or longer with basic care.

   2. The autopsy did not reveal anything regarding "Terri's choice" to be dehydrated to death.

   3. The autopsy made it clear that dehydration was Terri's cause of death and not her brain injuries.

   4. The autopsy confirmed that Terri's heart was strong and working well.

   5. The autopsy ruled out bulimia and massive heart attack as the cause for Terri's injury. (It did nothing to account for the 70-minute gap from when Terri originally collapsed and when Michael originally called for help.)

   6. With bulimia ruled out, according to the autopsy results, the case for Michael's malpractice suit has been completely undermined. (The parents believe that Michael should return the monies won on this claim.)

   7. The autopsy showed that Terri's struggle to swallow was not from a permanent vegetative state, but from muscle atrophy. (Of course, being denied 12 years of therapy might have had something to do with that atrophy.

   8. The autopsy showed that persistent vegetative state is a clinical diagnosis made on a living individual and a medical examiner can not make this determination by examining a corpse.

   9. The autopsy stated that Terri was given morphine for pain. This ran in contrast to the claims that Mr. Felos made consistently that Terri would experience no pain or discomfort.

Why anyone thinks their situation compares, or WOULD compare, to what Schiavo has led us to believe is ridiculous.  This guy is a class A turd, a jag beyond compare, and the only thing left to see is if the rest of the family (on both sides) is just as bad.

While I imagine this will do little to dissuade people from their personal "bleeding heart" opinions, most government programs originate out of either (a) mass production savings; or (b) ounce before vs pound after economics. These are the text book reasons for these programs. Now, if you want to make a case that liberals make poor economic managers while republicans excel at optimising the running of these programs, go for it. But considering the current USA budget deficit, I think you'll have a steep climb ahead of you.

The case to be made from his point of view is more one of eliminating those programs and letting those people handle their own business, rather than making the entire taxpayer base pay for their issues.

There are a LOT of programs I'd like to see eliminated, but there are also a few I'd like to see expanded, so I'm kind of mix and match on this stuff.

Because it will benefit you in the end. The more education people get, the less likely they are to turn to desperate means to survive (ie: Crimes against YOU).

Imagine living in a society where only 1 in 20 can read. Where few people can do any jobs other than manual labor because of this.

The other side of the coin:  Why don't those other 19 families educate their children?  Education only costs money when you're not willing to spend time teaching your kids.  My wife and I put in a LOT of time sitting with our kids, teaching them, talking to them.  They are both way ahead of their grade level as a result and we haven't had to spend an extra dime to do it.

What he's trying to say is that if every parent put in some effort, rather than depending on someone else to do their job, you would not end up in a 1 in 20 world.

Liberals want your money for their programs, and Republicans want your money for their programs.  Both parties want your money, they disagree on how best to get it and how best to use it.  It really isn't a conservative/liberal thing, it's a "what do you feel is necessary" thing.
