The Dreaded Pincusion
« on: June 14, 2005, 01:30:52 pm »
Hello all,
I've finally got my mame cabinet up and running with my arcade vga card and controller. The problem i am having is that i've got an evil pincushion effect throughout the bottom of the screen. I've tried all the adjustments i can find including what i think is the pincushion one to no avail. Anyone have any idea? Here's a picture of what's going on:

and if you want a link to the manual for the monitor it's located here: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/4370/Sharp_SI-327.html

any and all help would be extremely helpful as i am at a loss and so close to being done! :)
thanks in advance!

Ha nevermind, i fixed it. i did some reading around and found that pincushion effects can be caused by dying capacitors. i thought the one big capacitor i replaced a few years ago was the only one that needed it. I ended up using the cap kit i purchased a few years ago and fixing up most of the capacitors especially the ones around what i believe it the pincushion pot. turned it on and it's crystal clear, now to set up mameWah (oh the fun that will be!) Mod's feel free to lock this now.
