Mame wah Lists
« on: June 12, 2005, 04:20:19 pm »
Hi im using mamewah at present and am wondering how do i or is there even a way of sorting out the games by the types they are ie sports, fighting, beat em ups, shooters etc?

And if so can there be mulitiple set ups so its easy to select favourites etc.

If there is could some one tell me what i need to do please as searching through 5000 games can get ya down lol :(

Many thanks people - Marky

Currently, for consoles, there isn't an answer. For mame you can use the catver.ini file.

http://www.mameworld.net/catlist/

Download the "standard" file and place it in your mame folder. In MameWAH's ini file that you use to launch Mame put the path in like so:

### List Generation Settings ###
rom_path                                  c:\mame\roms
rom_extension                             zip
dat_file                                  c:\mame\mame.dat
nms_file
catver_ini_file                           c:\mame\catver.ini
list_generation_method                    rom_folder_vs_dat_file

Now you should be able to generate filtered lists using the menus within MameWAH. You'll have to figure that out. If I told you everything, what fun would that be. :)

You create it yourself. Go to a command prompt, switch to the mame folder and type this:

mame -listxml|xml2info > c:\mame\mame.dat

If may take a little while depending on your system. Also you may need to change the redirect path.

I have been using Mamewah for a couple weeks and I have never used the dat file. I am also curious to what this does. So obviously you don't need it, but what the heck is it for?

Another thing I can't figure out is the filters for controls, they don't seem to work properly. I put in the filter for trackball and it lists trackball and joystick games. Am I missing a file here?
