Funny you mention this :)

My other hobby is building a carpc and someone has done LIVE tracking of his car when he's driving around and it uses google maps for you to view were he is right now or replay a log of where he went.

Its more for knowing where the car has been and also if it gets stolen knowing where it is.

scroll tot he right and login (pass and username is demo)

check out the logs for 20th may

its quite cool i watched it when he did the live version and you saw him moving on the map every second :)

I don't know how to do that with the logs tho im sure you can get it to replay the whole trip.

But thats a very cool use of google maps i think and all u need is a net connection to see where the car is :D

Here is the place all the stuff he has done so far

That's definitely some sweet stuff - EXACTLY what I was looking for!  Hey, btw, someone was looking for some GPS turn-by-turn software, mebbe cross-post or link to this post and direct 'em to this.  That mp3car forum is pretty sweet, I was looking at that software for a juke for a while, but it isn't wife-friendly, so it got the axe

Well you can go buy D3 Destinator 3 altho you can download it off the net.

D3 is a pocket pc gps software and they released a pc sdk which alot of us have used and created a frontend to get the gps software useable (it wasn't useable one bit with the sdk) and after we did this they decided to charge $50 for a Dll you need then another amount of money for the SDK which pissed us off alot.

We did all this hard work to make there software work on the pc now they start charging us for all this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- then we have to pay $400 or so for the maps.

Look on edonkey or something like that you can find the maps (which you can get for free by destinator ask them for a free trial) then just download the free frontend etc.

you have to read the mp3car.com forums to work out what i mean.
