Game Display Problem.
« on: June 08, 2005, 11:28:30 pm »
Hi All,
I am running Dos Mame version 0.96 with arcadeos on an arcade monitor with arcadeVGA and am having trouble with NBA Jam. I think I have narrowed it down to a display or resolution problem.
When I boot the game, it shows a black screen and seems to freeze when I put the game config on auto. When I manually pick the games original resolution it comes back with an error "No 16bit 400x254 VESA mode available".
I changed in another video card and ran it on a computer monitor with no probs at all.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like an odd problem. Only thing I can think of is that the wrong drivers are loaded for the Vid card. Best bet when switching cards is to delete the old drivers and reinstall the new ones. Whats odd about it is that its only happening on one game. I'd think if it were a driver prob, it would be on all games unless NBA Jams is different somehow. Try the driver thing and see what happens, worst comes to worst, you ruled out one possibility.
