i hate ebay #2

about a month ago i posted how much i hate ebay. well here we go again ...

before i exaplained how i bought a memory card that didnt work. well it did work, but not really. it only worked when attached to a computer -- for some reason it didnt like mobile devices.

basically paypal tells me that essentially does mean it works so i am stuck with it.

-$200 for buying it

so i find a guy who wants to trade for a 1GB card. he says its fine that it doesnt work with his camera, it would be a nice external drive. OK. so we ship the cards to eachother

-$10 for shipping it

couple days later, he regrets his decision, because he got a new camera. he wants his 1gb card back, and wants to trade back. i don't want to, but i also dont want to put up with his fuss, so i do it anyway.

finally, i decide to put it back where it belongs.. ebay. i use huge compatiblity warnings, telling the buyer that it most definately probably will NOT work with their portable devices, although i CAN guarantee it will work with their computer. deal goes through, it sells for $145 + shipping

+145  for selling it on ebay (woot!)

couple days go by.. and then an email arrives. "IT DOES NOT WORK WHAT DO WE DO NOW"

i reply, telling them it will work fine on their computer. and it was cheap, because thats probably ALL it will work with.
a couple more days go by.

package comes to my door.  the postman asks for $30 (or somewhere around there) for custom fees. apparently he returned the package! grrr...

i pop the card into my computer. when i sent him the card, i put a funny picture on there for kicks. the picture is gone. not working huh? obviously a lie.

so this morning, furious, i write him an email and thanked him for not marking it as a returned package and that $30 made my wallet too heavy anyway. i told him that it was nice of him to format it for me, but he can keep it, and that i was sending it back. enjoy your purchase.

i hope he keeps it this time. i'm already $115 in the hole for this freaking memory card...

He just sent that thing back in the mail? I'm too honest to do it, but if he's low enough to pull a stunt like that on you, you should have just said you never received anything back in the mail.  You weren't expecting a package so you never recieved a package, right?

nice guys finish last I guess.  You basically got hosed for being honest...repeatedly.  I would have stopped at the trade--it's not like you were being deceptive and why should you have to pay for someone else's buyer remorse.

You ARE permitted to refuse mail. Though in this case, it would look like a return to sender, I wonder if you can refuse it in a situation like this?

i am getting upset with ebay myself. I bought a hard drive and SOB took off.
I filed a non receipt of goods but that's it. person is not a seller on ebay but I am still out $$$.

why are u blaming ebay?

you choosed what to do you said that it worked ont he pc only that there was a possibilty of it working on a mobile device but probably not.

You decided to take the package and then send it back you should of just not taken the package or kept the card.

It's his fault that he didn't read the auction properly yo should of got him to give you money for sending it back.

How is this anyway for hating ebay in this instant? its the users not ebays fault

He is tired of getting burned. he has had his share of bad luck from ebay items.
this one card has burned him 3 times.
I fell for the guy. wish he had emailed me before he put it up on ebay.
I would use it a a portable hard drive .
I have been using a 512 CF for this.
a 5 gig one would be fun just for bragging rights even
