Best program to use for planning artwor

okay so ive pretty much got the design of the cab im going to build down but i have no idea what i want to do on the artwork front or even what colour i want it. I have access to vectorworks but i have no idea how to use it so anyone got any suggestions? i suppose i could just use paint but im worried it will look good in paint and absoulte crap in real life

If you are planning on preparing print-ready custom art, DON'T use paint! You will need a more powerful program, like Photoshop, or Gimp.

As for coming up with ideas, the best way to do that is just to browse the gallery of projects, or just copy a classic cabinet that you like.
