Well despite that vote of confidence

i went ahead anyways... found that the local arcade distributor/repair shop had a manual... so with that new info i finally had enough info to procede... i am going to keep updating this thread in case anyone else is going through something like this!
after many hours looking through wrecks and scrounging parts, i think i have spent enough time that the repair shop was getting sick of me... i finally got some time to sit down and talk with the repair guys

keep bugging them they will eventually cave in!
after asking my questions; the guy sat and listened to all my questions and then finally asked "why don't you just read the label"
HUH? Label?
he explained to me that these Japaneses cabs have a label on EVERY connector (i won't share his rather racist explantion of this)

So back home i went, dismantled enough of my cab to crawl inside and lo and behold stickers everywhere!
so i now really have all the info i need... so (fingers crossed) i am going to do my first power on test of my monitor tomorrow... while i still have nothing invested but time!
and with luck stripdown and clean will be the next step... hopefully soon i can move this out of the monitor forum!
