My Summer Project... Game Room...help!
« on: May 29, 2005, 02:50:45 pm »
Well... i decided it was time to take my love for fighting games to the EXTREME.  I live in rhode island to make it simple, and i know every fighting game player in the state pretty much.  I think it would be neat to have a uber basement for everyone to play in.  I am planning on building 3 cabinets as well as getting 3 tvs and some tables and chairs.  This way people wont have to wait the whole time to play on the cabs.

This project will be making 3 cabinets, using lucid's plans most likley.  From what i have seen they come out beautifully.

What i want included in each:
-Modified X-box ( cheaper then PC, only 160$ )
-Dreamcast ( i have all 3 of these )
-Playstation 2 ( have 2 of these... 1 cab can go with out )
-27" TV
-2 player fighter control panel, done like the one used for the actual cabinet he made, but with out the trac ball and such, this way your elbows dont bump when playing... who wants their parry time ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up in sf3:3s?
-Coin Door
-Side Art
-Marquee
-Lexan
-Different color arrangements... blue/black, red/black, unsure of 3rd

How much will each run me do you think? I have a total of like 2.2k to spend to build the 3. Currently i have all the Competition sticks necessary for the CPs, 1 27" TV, ALL tools to build this, Project arcade book.

I'd like my CP to look like the one from lucid's or the one from "neon mame" or "flyer mame"  for the reason stated above.

As for the artwork, 2 machines will be completley custom, but i do want to use the art used in the 2 above cabinets, i think it goes very well with blue/black setup and it is simply impressive to me, plus it will save me a few days of designing and ---smurfing--- up.

CP will be based off of a playstation dual shock A series PCB, with converters inside the coin door on a shelf, so when switching from DC to x-box or ps2 it is simply applying another adapter ( much like x-arcade... but with out lag time )

I plan on running
Cabinet 1: Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike
Cabinet 2: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Cabinet 3: Various... marvel vs capcom 2, capcom vs snk 2, GGxx#r etc etc...

Any advice, tips, or info on where to get the artwork mentioned would be VERY helpful to me...

Well it looks like you have a very crazy summer ahead of you!
Good luck trying to get all of that done.  I also think you might run into some problems with the pricing.  I think you might want to go with just two.  You might find getting a xbox, a ps2 and a dreamcast all working on the same cab to be very pricey.

Keep us posted on how it goes!
