Editing JCrouse's NeoGeoCD Wrapper?
« on: May 24, 2005, 09:01:25 pm »
Does anybody have any experience with JCrouse's wrapper as to editing the filetypes?  I'd like to use an ISO/MP3/CUE format instead of the BIN/CUE format, but the Wrapper sends the CUE file to the virtual drive and I get an unsupported file type dialog box.  Is there any way I can edit the wrapper or do I need to write one from scratch (which I cant  >:()?

There is no way to edit the wrapper. How exactly do you plan on configuring your ini file for ISO/MP3 format. Unless the files are all named perfectly you will need to keep each game in it's own folder because the MP3's typically have generic names such as tracck01.mps, track02.mpr and so forth. There is a "folder" option in MameWAH for creating a game list but I've never seem anyone use it and 'til Mini get back I'm not sure how. I played with it a couple of weeks ago but didn't know what to use for an "extension" in the ini file. If I left it blank it kept defaulting to zip. If you get this figured out AND you name the folder the EXACT same as the ISO name you could built your launch string with the [name] parameter. It will be tricky but should be doable if everything else falls into place.

All that being said, can you even launch an ISO from the commandline in Nebula? I guess I never tried that.

Why not just convert to BIN/Cue? File Size?

All the ISOs are named to match- they work if you load the ISO from the GUI. Format is like this:
Game X.cue
Game X-Track 01.iso
Game X-Track 01.mp3
Game X-Track 02.mp3
Game Y.cue
Game Y-Track 01.iso
Game Y-Track 01.mp3
Game Y-Track 02.mp3
I considered converting to BIN/CUE; I just dont know how long it would take adn what software Id need to do so.  ANy suggestions? And If I do convert, files are about 5.5 gigs now, and I have about 20 gigs free space left, so Id geuss theyd fit.

Are you able to launch the ISO's from a command prompt?

JCrouse, the wrapper handled the ISOs like a champ, everything works; however, when Daemon tools mounts an image, it brings up windows explorer...is there a way to disable this??? Thanks!

I never saw that before. Sounds like one of two things, either it's a setting somewhere in Daemon Tools or more likely it something to do with Windows Auto Insert notification (Auto Play), like when you put a CD in a physical drive. In Windows XP go to Windows Explorer, right click on the drive, choose properties and on the Auto Play tab set everything to "take no action". That may help.

Yeah I tried something along those lines, but I haven't checked Daemon Tools.  Ill see what I can do...maybe a registry setting somewhere could fix it otherwise...thanks again for the wrapper though  ;D

Also, if you download and install the Microsoft Power Toy, TweakUI, you will get a few more GUI options for controlling the actions of your drives.
