Help with dull Nintendo Monitor
« on: May 24, 2005, 06:07:02 pm »
I just got a Popeye machine and the monitor looks like it is off colors (I tried adjusting in the back with no luck) and a little dull (ie not bright).  Any idea's?  I guess I can order a cap kit and try that, but if the problem is more serious than that I'd rather not bother.  It kind of looks like the color green is out on it, any way to trouble shoot?

Also, I notice Bob Roberts and Arcade shop (I think it was arcade shop) has two different kits for the nintendo monitors.  Both around $10, any idea which is the better of the two?  Thanks guys.

Bob Roberts has a seperate cap kit just for the audio amplifier board on the Nintendo Sanyo monitor.

Most Nintendo cabinets have a Sanyo 20-EZ monitor in them. Some cabinets had a Sharp XM-2001 monitor. Bob Roberts' monitor ID page explains the differences between the two very different models.

Thanks for the info.  Do you think the cap kit will fix the color/brightness issues or is it something else?

On the Sanyo and Sharp monitors in general, usually 95 % of the time a capkit fixes most problems especially brightness and horizontal hold problems. The other 5 % of the time you may have a weak picture tube which usually can be repaired with a rejuvenator.

Thanks man, I guess since the color is bad I may get a rejuvenator.  Can you point me in the right direction?  Thanks!

I'd put in a capkit first before doing anything else.
