Getting rid of the last Windows components HELP!
« on: May 24, 2005, 04:10:34 pm »
Howdy!

I am trying to make my MAME machine look like it isn't running Windows at all.  I have eliminated my BIOS setup messages, my Windows startup and logoff screens, enabled automatic logon, and installed BBlean (Blackbox) as my shell.  The problem is that before bblean loads as my shell, it still shows that Windows background image for about 2 seconds.

Anyone know how I could force this to load straight into the bblean shell rather than load into the explorer shell and then load bblean?

Thanks for any help folks can add on the subject.

James

I HAVE done that.  For example, my search of your last posts shows that you responded with "use the search" in 3 of your last 20 posts.    :P

My question was specific to BBlean and the way it loads its shell.  Doing a search with the string "bblean", I get 1 post, mine.  Doing one for "Blackbox", from which BBlean is a derivative, I get 0 results.

I certainly understand people asking me to search if my question was vague and worded something like "how do I get rid of windows?", but in this case, I would appreciate any other help people can give me.

Thanks so much,
James

Um, change your windows background image to all black, problem solved.

Also, for years now quite a few arcade games have been running windows, and they DON'T hide any of the stuff that people here go through so many pains to hide.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

If he did set it as shell, thats the default users background. You can change it in the registry. Do a search for my posts with that in it and you hsould find it. :)
