dreamcast ISO help - I have DISCS
« on: May 24, 2005, 12:15:58 pm »
Uh oh!  Dont delete/ban me.

I traded in my dreamcast along time ago.  But I still have a few discs.  Now I'm planning a game cabinet and I would like to have the games in the cab if possible and emulation would serve me better just in terms of ease of use.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me make ISOs if I send them the discs?

*please note* DreamCast discs are NOT like playstation discs in that a standard CD/DVD rom cannot make ISO of them.  If you can do this you'll know what I mean.

Anyway, I hope I don't get banned or anything cause this isn't a ROM request.  These are my games I just need help and I would be more than happy to give the discs to anyone that would be so kind as to help me because I no longer have a use for them.  Here is the list:

Power Stone
Jedi Power Battles
Gundam Side Story
Soul Calibur
Guantlet Legends
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Tomb Raider Last Revelations
Crazy Taxi

Thanks
Tim

I remember reading that you need a DEV kit to transfer gd-rom discs to a PC..  and it's a slow slow process.   The other alternative is to find already 'hacked' versions of the discs you own..

I'm sure you can find all this information (and a lot more) at www.dcemulation.com

Unless there has been some new development, I don't think there are any viable dreamcast emulators?  Also, to transfer the DC discs, you would need the dreamcast itself\dev kit or a 'programer' cable.  Big pain.  Not sure on the whole process 100%.

In my opinion, I think you're better off to find a dreamcast console if you want to play these games in your cabinet.  Save yourself a big headache.

you don't need a dev kit. you can do it with a broadband adapter, however it is still a huge PITA.

And there ARE viable Dreamcast emulators now, or at least they are close enough to warrant some excitement and plans.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

My point by viable emulators was that he won't be able to play his games with any current DC emulators.

I sure hope development continues for the DC, but I'm sure he would need a very powerful system to take advantage of it when it happens.

Heck, I am still waiting for a great Saturn emu.  (I guess development is slow for that system because it wasn't as popular as the DC)

IMO, Timoe might be better to trade in his games for 2 cases of beer.   ;D    Much more enjoyable then trying to convert those games to pc.  Or better yet, buy a DC, it's a great system at a very low $$.

My bad.  After reading other posts in this category, there seems to be great advancements in DC emu's...  I still say buy a DC+VGA adaptor though.  Graphics look great on a pc monitor.

Once you give them discs to another person in exchange for them giving you ISO images, and you don't get the discs back, you've clearly committed piracy. Having an ISO of a game you still retain physical possession of is one thing - this is another.
