Manual needed
« on: May 24, 2005, 05:47:49 am »
 :o Fellow retrogamers,

a few days ago I bought a real arcade cabinet (I already own a Mame cabinet). It's a jamma cabinet and a MVS board is included. So now I can play the real games, not just the mame roms. There is one thing though. I am not technical at all, and the guts of the cabinet look very complex to me. In the cabinet is a Samsung arcade monitor (about 15 years old) with a Kortek PCB connected to it (in the upper left of the PCB there is an Id: K 1033-900523N).  Is there anyone who can supply me with technical information about this monitor and PCB (Manual or something). The reason I am asking is that coming winter I want to make a pc2jamma connection, but I first need to know more about how it all works. Other technical information about Jamma wiring and such is also welcome.

Greetings,

Retroguy

You do NOT have a Samsung monitor. You have a Kortek. Go to Bob Roberts' website and look at the monitor pictures on his monitor ID page.

Hi Ken,

Then I guess the monitor in my cab is not original, there is a hugh sticker at the back of the tube saying : I am a Samsung.

anyway, thanks for mentioning the website f this Robert. Although I could not find anything about my monitor, There is a lot of other useful information to find.

Greetings,

This is a very common mistake for folks new to monitor repair.  The TUBE (CRT) is made by Samsung.  What matters is the chassis (Electronics), which you ID'd as a Kortek.  The CRT manufacturer doesn't matter at all.
