The sad thing is that someone probably spent a lot of time making all of those graphics and animations.

I think I'd rather keep the frown as an umbrella  :( - that way the water will run off the sides.  If I used a smile :) it would catch all the rain until either the level of water in the umbrella overflows, or the volume (hence weight) is too much for my weak smile to contain therefore reducing it into a frown yet again  :'(.

The smile would simply hold all the water for a later time when you wished to play in it like a child, letting some out periodically, so as to make the moment magical.
